Life in Loch Haven.

Get your bearings on the South River

Loch Haven’s civic association places the neighborhood on the South River in Edgewater. Its overview identifies a community beach, pier, river overlook and recreation area. Choose the places you expect to use, then compare the route from each home on your shortlist. A water view from a community place and waterfront frontage at the house are different features.

Keep the county park and community places separate

Anne Arundel County lists Loch Haven Park at 3424 Pocahontas Drive, with trails, a dog park and other recreation facilities. The civic association separately describes the neighborhood’s waterfront and recreation properties. Use the responsible organization’s directions and visitor information for the place you mean to visit. A shared name does not make park facilities and neighborhood amenities interchangeable.

Ask how community upkeep is funded

The civic association’s member-services page describes community funding through a county-assessed special community benefit district. When comparing homes, ask for the current property tax record and the community documents that apply to the address. Separate these questions from boat-slip availability or other optional arrangements. Older references to voluntary association dues are not a reliable current ownership budget.

Make the pier question specific

If boating is part of your move, bring the boat’s dimensions and your intended use to the association. Confirm the current pier process and whether space is available before building a home search around that expectation. At the property, compare equipment storage and the route to the water alongside the layout and condition of the house. Keep unresolved questions attached to each address so that a useful neighborhood setting does not stand in for property-level research.

Use the Pocahontas Drive address for the county park

Anne Arundel County lists Loch Haven Park at 3424 Pocahontas Drive, with a playground, dog park, courts, fields and trails. Use that address when planning a public park visit. The shared Loch Haven name should not lead you to assume that the county park and the association's waterfront property have the same entrance or access arrangements. Choose the activity you would use, identify the relevant part of the park, and compare the trip from the home on your shortlist.

South River Farm offers a different walk on Loch Haven Drive

South River Farm Park is at 3553 Loch Haven Drive. The county describes a rustic setting with natural-surface trails and river views. It is a different outing from a visit to the courts or playground at Loch Haven Park. Check the park's current information and choose a route suited to the walk you want to take. When comparing homes, ask whether this is a place you would use for a short visit or a planned outing, and judge the full trip from the property.

Keep park proposals separate from facilities you can use

The county's South River Farm Park project page says a master plan is complete and future development is pending funding. That distinction matters when an online map or rendering looks more developed than the visitor information. Use the park's current facilities page for an ordinary visit and the capital-project page to follow proposed changes. A plan can help you understand the local conversation, but it should not be described as an amenity already available to a homebuyer.

Find the community pier entrance before discussing a slip

The Loch Haven Civic Association identifies its private pier entrance at Riverview Drive and Bay View Point Drive. Its pier page directs slip questions to the responsible committee and describes an application process. Confirm the appropriate access before a visit, then ask about your actual boat and the current process. Being able to reach the community waterfront and having a berth assigned are different questions. Keep launch arrangements, storage and slip availability distinct when deciding how boating would fit your move.

Compare community outdoor space with the home's own space

Loch Haven's association describes a beach, river overlook and recreation areas among its community places. On a home tour, compare those shared settings with the outdoor area attached to the property. Where would you sit for a short break, keep equipment or host a visitor? Ask how access and upkeep work for the specific facility you expect to use. Then read the Selby on the Bay and South River Landing guides for other Edgewater comparisons, carrying the same home and activity priorities into each visit.

A few things to know

Loch Haven: before you choose a home.

Have another question?
01Is Loch Haven Park the same as the community beach?

The county lists Loch Haven Park on Pocahontas Drive; the civic association describes its own waterfront and recreation places separately. Use the county and association references below to identify the destination and its current access information.

02What should I check about Loch Haven ownership costs?

Ask for the current tax record and property-specific community documents. The association describes a special community benefit district funding arrangement; do not use an old voluntary-dues form to estimate today’s costs.

03Are these listings only in this neighborhood?

No. These results use the broader Edgewater MLS city filter. Neighborhood aliases and feed coverage still need verification. Ask our team to help confirm the location of a home; the results shown here are not a complete neighborhood inventory.

04Where is the county's Loch Haven Park?

The county lists Loch Haven Park at 3424 Pocahontas Drive. Its facilities include a playground, dog park, courts, fields and trails. It is separate from the civic association's private waterfront facilities.

05Are the proposed South River Farm improvements already open?

The county's project page distinguishes the completed master plan from future development pending funding. Use current visitor information to check available facilities; a proposal or rendering is not proof of an open amenity.

06Where should I start a Loch Haven pier inquiry?

The association's pier page identifies the entrance at Riverview Drive and Bay View Point Drive and directs slip inquiries to its committee. Confirm access and the current application process before relying on a berth in your home search.
