Read the maintenance responsibilities beside the floor plan
When comparing a townhouse, ask which exterior elements the owner maintains and which tasks belong to an association. Include roofs, siding, decks, fences and any shared areas in the questions rather than assuming one arrangement. Inside, trace how bedrooms, laundry and living spaces are distributed between levels. That combination of upkeep and everyday movement is more useful than describing every attached home as a low-maintenance option.
